Fireplace

Who doesn't like an open fire?
Capturing it in camera and making it look realistic can be quite a task though.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photograph in a snow covered chalet in the French Alps

Time

Late afternoon after a day's skiing

Lighting

I took advantage of the ambient lighting, but I stooped the aperture down to prevent blown out and over exposed areas of the image

Equipment

Canon DSLR and short zoom

Inspiration

I wanted to capture the ambiance of the room more of a record for myself than anything

Editing

I just did a bit of cropping and sharpening

In my camera bag

I was on holiday and flew with a budget airline so weight was a major issue. I only took a camera body and a short zoom lens with an extra battery.

Feedback

This image just goes to show that goos images appear from out of the blue. If you haven;'t got a camera with you....you can't capture the image.
