I think I took this picture in the early afternoonLighting
The lighting is natural, it was very flat which meant that the image looked better in monochromeEquipment
Canon DSLR and a short ZoomInspiration
I loved the reflections in the water and the detail in the buildings. The tall buildings and the meandering river disappearing in the distance give the image a nice focal point when in portrait in a portrait aspect.Editing
I just changed then image from colour into monochrome and boosted the shadows with a bit of dodging and burning. In my camera bag
When walking around a city I like to travel light so generally I would take a camera body and a wide angle zoom lens. I would opt for the wide angle zoom, as the majority of images would probably include buildings and architecture, and I always have the option to crop an image if I can't get close enough. A wide angle zoom is also much lighter in weight than a longer lens, which is also a major consideration for me. In addition, I would probably only take an extra battery.Feedback
Try and see every image you take as a finished product in your mind's eye. This way you will take less photographs, but better ones. Quality is better than quantity.
