The lighting was what was available.Equipment
I used a canon DSLR and a short zoom lens on a tripod.Inspiration
This is an area where many students relax at the end of the day and at the weekend. The atmosphere was so subdued and I have tried to to capture this within the image. The reflections on the water were surreal and added to the whole event, with the water being so still. It was just a very tranquil scene.Editing
I boosted the colours a little in photoshop and removed some of the students who were close to the camera.In my camera bag
On this occasion I was walking the streets at night following dinner at a restaurant, so I was travelling as light as possible, especially as I had to carry a tripod. I just had a canon DSLR and a short zoom lens.Feedback
If you want to call yourself a "photographer", take any opportunity you can and make the effort. To capture scenes like this one, you really have to make the effort to stop and take the time to adjust your equipment to achieve the best possible results. Don't forget to consider different perspectives.
