Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken at an orchard plantation in Maui Hawaii. It was too beautiful to resist taking a photo.Time
Of course, being in Hawai, the weather was beautiful. Blooms were all over, hundreds of them. It was around noon or so when I spotted this orchard. It just called my name and I snapped the photo.Lighting
The lighting was nothing special other than a sunny day, however, the orchard was undercover.Equipment
The shot was taken with a Nikon D90 using a Tamron 28-200mm walk-around lens. Handheld.Inspiration
I was visiting a tropical flower plantation in Maui Hawaii. It was awesome, but it was this orchard that just seemed to stand out from the rest.Editing
I used Photoshop to help with post-processing for color temp and lighting contrast. In my camera bag
I now carry a Nikon D-90, a Nikon D7000, and a Samsung mirrorless NX300. I have a prime 50mm and several zoom lenses. This along with the flash unit and filters complete my bag.Feedback
I look for arboretums or similar places to shot a variety of blooms. Also, use my homegrown varieties for the photos. Flowers are everywhere but depend on the time of year for the best shots. Just keep an open eye and your camera at the ready.
