Taking a stroll un the park, a lovely willow with the pollen "worms" and behind the sun. The days willows start to shed these little beauties for leaves... and sun is still in winter mode! This is from the Delicias Park, a wonderful place where, not long ago, the buildings hosted a psychiatric intitution, but now, the only crazies there are the kids playing! Walking there is like being in nature, no cars can be heard, almost, and birds sing all day long.

Behind The Lens

Location

The is magic in the nearest park to my home, the famous Parque Delicias, in Zaragoza, Spain. This place was before, and not too long ago, a closed psychiatric and eery building there was a ward. Most of the trees was there then, and still are now, hiding the secrets of those buildings (like the one that can be seen behind), and I always wonder when I go there if they can remember the amazing stories they lived. Now, it is an island of peace and silence surrounded by noisy streets, only broken by the song of the birds, the shouts of kid playing and people chatting and living this amazing piece of nature.

Time

I love evening lights, mostly when they are golden and yellow, they doesn't appear very often here. This light, only when weather menaces storms in hours, or rain the next day, is always making this kind of effects: mistery, blurred or foggy images, and sunlight scattering shadows in a dreamy chaos. And yes, it only happens by evening, when sun is trying to hide.

Lighting

I do love the natural lighting, it changes so fast that getting moments like this is the most challenging thing to do. Also, this light is so difficult to find here, the metereological moment is really important and scarces, so the chance to get a shoot like this with my equipment is a big success, at least for me, because this light also shows my emotional way to look the world.

Equipment

I don't have a professional equipment, in fact and to be honest, I only have my phone, a Huawei Y5, and didn't use any filters, flash or lens to shoot, so this image is raw, no post-process has been done. I wish I had a better equipment, because I love going out and shoot whatever calls my attention but, as I always have managed to work with the most humble equipment (I still have and use my first digital camera, 22 years old), I always try to get the best result with the non professional camera I can have. As I always tell my friends, it is not the equipment that makes a photo perfect, it is the moment itself.

Inspiration

I was walking around the park with my son, sun was falling, spring was there but winter still was there too, willows, light, scents, magpies all around, and then suddenly, felt like taking my phone and take a photo to this: the slight fog, the perfect light and hour, the motionless tree trying to wake from the cold, the emotional flow of peace and quietness all around, the real feeling of being alone with just my kid there, nobody to disturb the pureness of the moment. The image moved me and I had to make it mine the only way I had, and share to the world so that exact and volatile moment did exist.

Editing

I don't have tools for post-processing so this photo comes unaltered at all.

In my camera bag

My phone, always my phone, since I don't have a better equipment. When I travel I also take one of my compact cameras, but they are pretty old and have to take lots of memory cards for them.

Feedback

I always believe that when trying to capture something like this, first one have to feel the need to make the moment and image last forever, then let it trigger beauty, pureness, all emotions inside you. If you have a good equipment, use it, but no matter what you use, if you have the emotions connected to the here and now, even the most humble camera will be on your hand to capture it.
