Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Hungary, near Budapest. The bridge is called "Megyeri", the newest bridge over the Danube river in the greater Budapest area.

Time

i met one of my photographer friends in the late afternoon, and we traveled out of the city to catch the last rays of the Sun that day at sunset time, and shot some night photos afterwards. Just arrived in time, this was the first shot.

Lighting

Natural light at sunset, moments after that street light were on on the bridge. This gives a plus to the photo, especially the reflections on the water.

Equipment

The camera was a Nikon D3200, with Sigma 10-20 f4-5,6, placed the gear on a tripod.

Inspiration

I have seen nice photos of this bridge before, was on my list to visit and shoot some photos. I like blue hour, and city or architecture.

Editing

Only basic post processing in Lightroom, nothing special.

In my camera bag

I have upgraded my gear since i took this photo, now i have a Nikon D750 in my bag, many times with a Nikon 20mm f2,8 lens, or a Tamron 70-200 f2,8. A tripod of course, Manfrotto Element is a pretty cheap but very stable one.

Feedback

Before you visit the location, plan your trip, even if it is not a destination far away. Use google maps to discover roads, paths, how to reach the given location. Use other tools like suncalc.org or mooncalc.org to check when and where the Sun or the Moon will set or rise. If you all have these, pray for weather :) To shoot the photo, use a tripod, external trigger or timer to reduce camera shake. Try to compose in-camera to avoid crop afterwards. Use f8-f16 aperture to have a deep depth of field and good sharpness.
