Today, we visited Vetal Tedki, it is an abandoned stone quarry. We usually go there for birding and nature trail.
Sachin, my better half decided to go for his daily run and I decided to be with the lens.
On the route, he saw a small bush fire set by somebody. All dry grass was catching the flames and slowly spreading it. He was surprised to see many Jungle Mynas and Drongos hovering on and around the burning grass. Some Drongos were fluttering just above the flames as if trying to warm themselves. Many passersby were also puzzled with this behaviour.
He called me to that area...I was quite a way, down in the valley. So, it took me a while to reach there. By the time I reached, the flames were nearly gone...but the birds were still there.
Why were they so eager to be near the fire? And what were they going to find in the ash? Why humans always destroys others habitat?
'Poor thing', we thought. They must be very sad.
But, we were wrong, the birds were eating something from the ash. Not sure, but now we feel they must be having barbequed worms.
"The fire had gone, leaving only ash but the life continues....."
