Location
This photo was taken at the gypsy fair in Mount Maunganui, Tauranga (New Zealand).Time
I arrived at the gypsy fair around 10am, from memory it was summer. On this day it was so sunny so a lot of the photos I took here were very bright.Lighting
Because I was shooting in natural light, on a bright sunny day I needed to find an angle which was shaded. Fortunately this gypsy's bus was in a shady spot but you can see the light peeking though in some spots.Equipment
This was shot on a Panasonic Lumix G-85, 12-60mm. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I had been walking around all morning trying to get that classic 'candid' moment. Kathleen, the tarot reading gypsy was waiting patiently for her next customer and her dog come out to join her, keeping her company. The look of love on each other's faces quickly prompted me to pick up my camera and get this shot.Editing
Yes I do all my post processing in Lightroom, developed from raw. This one I developed into monochrome, with one of my favourite personal presets. I tweaked the colouring/lighting a bit and darkened the edges. In my camera bag
I always use Panasonic- My Lumix kit consists of the G-85 body, 12-60mm F3.5-5.6 lens (which is universal), 42.5mm F1.7 (which I use for portraits), and the big 100-300mm F4.0-5.6 (for those far away but close shots). I am currently saving to get myself a macro lens which I have wanted for a while now. I also have a Godox V860 external flash when needed. Most importantly I always carry around a spare battery and flash card!Feedback
Have the camera ready to go so when you see those 'moments' which are so beautiful you are able to capture it in still photography. Street photography can feel difficult because it often involves walking around not capturing much, but when you get it, the wait is worth it!
