Location
I took this photo in Tallinn, Estonia. This particular place is a very famous view point located in the old town (59°26'15.83"N,24°44'31.82"E).Time
It was just after midday, but the sun was low as it was January.Lighting
I was not used to the fact that in the winter in Estonia the sun is very low, it feels like it's afternoon the whole day. Therefore the light had a slight orange tone and was creating lovely angles of shadows the whole day.Equipment
I used Canon EOS 400d and Canon 28-80 lens.Inspiration
I was a freezing day (almost -15 degrees) so there were not many tourists, even in such a popular point of the city. We were alone there with this curious seagull. I was not bothered with our presence, so firstly I took the shots of the town and later decided to use the moment and capture the bird. At the beginning it was lying down, but later stood up and shown it's big puffy belly (big and puffy from cold of course;)Editing
Probably I did a bit of cleaning of the dust spots and a slight HDR. I also leveled the photo. In my camera bag
I use Canon EOS 400d and lenses: Canon 28-80, Canon 18-55, Canon 100-300 and Tamron 28-75 (2.8).Feedback
Don't be afraid of the cold and use as much of the moment as possible. During this shot I tried different shots of the bird alone and with the panorama behind, but it took the bird's cooperation to pose and for me to bend my knees a bit and look the bird in the eyes.
