Location
This photo was taken from a campsite high in the Stok Mountain Range in Ladakh (India).Time
The photo was taken near sunset.Lighting
Given the lowness of the sun and the height of the mountain terrain, the last light of the day cut a narrow horizontal swath dramatically illuminating only the tops of the neighboring peaks.Equipment
This was shot on a Minolta 7000 DSLR with a Tamron 28-200 mm lens on Kodak Royal RC film.Inspiration
While I was observing the landscape during the early evening golden hour, the scenery and the atmospheric conditions combined magnificently for this image. I was camera ready and all I had to do was capture this scene.Editing
Post-processing was fairly straightforward. Some experimenting in contrast levels was undertaken to maximize photographic effect. In my camera bag
When traveling abroad, I normally carry a digital camera, as well as a spare camera body, and an 18-200 mm zoom lens with a circular polarizer and a set of neutral density filters. Of course, I also bring along a tripod for use when practical.Feedback
While watching sunrises and sunsets, patience, attentiveness and readiness are critical. See the big picture, but don't lose sight of the details.
