Location
This window reflection of Two Prudential Plaza was taken at the base of the Aon Center in Chicago, Illinois.Time
This photo was taken at approximately 11:30 A.M.Lighting
The sun was approximately overhead with Two Prudential Plaza in light shadow and the Aon Center window bay in deep shadow which created a rich reflection of the former building.Equipment
This photo was taken with a Minolta 7000 SLR camera using a Tamron 28-200 lens. The image was captured on Fuji RA slide film.Inspiration
Walking past the Aon Center, I noticed the richness of the reflection of Two Prudential Plaza in the Center's windows. I then wondered whether it would be possible to capture an image of both Two Prudential and its window reflection in a single frame. To accomplish this I had to lay flat on my back on the ground at the base of the Aon Center window, looking upwards.Editing
The split at the approximate mid-point of this image allowed the two halves to be separately post-processed so that the respective luminosity of each half could be more approximately equalized, still leaving the reflection darker and richer, but the non-reflected half less washed out.In my camera bag
For roving city photography such as this I like to travel light, carrying a small format SLR, a versatile zoom lens and a circular polarizer in a waist holster.Feedback
Keep your eyes open. Urban architecture presents an exciting variety of photographic opportunities depending upon the particular point of view chosen. All possible angles of vision should be carefully considered and explored.
