I love shooting during a temperature inversion at a large river with mountains close by. It creates a rolling fog that ebbs and flows constantly. Every picture even seconds apart is a new picture. This was late afternoon and just after the rain during a warm winter day. The warm rain on the cold river ice created the effect you see here.Lighting
The lighting was perfect to create the effect you see here. Overcast skies make for dramatic exposure lighting. Dark enough for the pier lights to be on but light enough to give detail to the pier and its surroundings.Equipment
My camera is a Nikon D600 and the lens was a Nikon 16-35 f4 zoom. The tripod was a Metro travel tripod.Inspiration
I love the water and I love enrique shooting situations. I was driving home from shopping and noticed the fog on the river. I stopped and saw the opportunity and went for it.Editing
I di my post processing using ACDSee pro using the lighting tool which lets me control the tonal range of the light. In my camera bag
Nikon D600, Nikon 28-300, Nikon 105 2.8 and my 16-35 f4 Nikon.Feedback
Always have your equipment with you and follow your instincts. Look for large bodies of water, cold weather and warm rain.
