Taking phots of lighting is a thrill and a challenge. i found the spot with the boat and pelican which made a great background for the lightingEquipment
i used a Canon 7D with 18-250mm lens and a Tripod with a timer shutter.Inspiration
I love the challenge of taking phots of lighting, it is rewarding when they turn out a beauty. It all about timing, Speed and been in the right spot at the right time.Editing

Give it a go, it is very rewarding, you have to be in the right place at the right time.....always have your camera with you...I use Bulb Mode for taking my photos, Once focused turn it on to Manual focus mode.
