The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), our Galaxy's largest satellite galaxy. Lies at a distance of 163000 light years. The galaxy is 14000 light years across and weighs in at 10 billion solar masses, making it 1-14th the diameter and 1-120th the mass of our Galaxy. This photo was taken with t9 (a Televue 127mm refractor), using a FLI 16803 mono camera, at SSO (Siding Springs Observatory). 10 x 120sec subs (20mins), using a luminance (clear) filter. I'll be adding some colour subs to the photo at a later date.
