Location
This photo is on the cat tree in my living room. :)Time
This image was taken early in the evening; however, being an indoor shot, time of day is actually irrelevant.Lighting
This is standard "horror lighting".Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 5D Mark IV, a Canon 40mm pancake lens, and either a Canon 600 EX-RT or (more likely) 430 EX II (I don't recall). The flash was off-camera with a Phottix Laso master and slave pair and the bundled flash stand.Inspiration
He was just sitting there like that, and I realized that classic horror lighting would probably look cool, especially since this cat is nothin' but love. This image is as 180° off of his personality as you can possibly get. :)Editing
I did nothing special in post other than crop.In my camera bag
I normally carry my 5D, my pancake lens (because it fits in my jeans pocket), and my 70 - 200 Sigma lens. If I'm shooting people, I may also pack my Impact collapsible reflector.Feedback
The only advice I'd offer is twofold: Learn one-light and boldly experiment a *lot*.
