Dozens of ancient castles are sprinkled across Northern Ireland’s lush, green countryside in various states of ruin.

During my trek, I hopped in the rental car and just started driving. Within 30 minutes Bubratty, I stubmled across quite large number.

The trick was deciding which ones to stop at and photograph. I chose a few off the beaten path, and they satisfied my curiosity for all things medieval … I even let loose my inner child while exploring.

The weather cleared enough for me to walk around this particular landmark. Although it didn't have the famous "Blarney Stone", I'm sure it was equally as old.

For this shot, I set my camera on my tripod and composed this image of the castle reflection in the moat.

This is an HDR Composition made up of 5 images with +--.5 EV between each shot.
