Every morning, the sun would rise and all of the vacationers at Poipu would scramble to capture the best sunrise photo imaginable. I spent the previous afternoon scouting and exploring and came across a small set of stacked stones on the shore. I took the opportunity to clean up the stack and add some smaller ones to the top. My vision was to capture this image with a sun burst. The stack was about 2 feet tall. As the sun was coming up over the horizon, I framed this such that the sun was partially blocked by the stack and I stepped down my aperture. This is the result. A beautiful sunrise photo with a star burst peeking around the stacked stones. Kind of Zen like. This final image is a composite of three different images - each shot at +-- 1 ev and put together using Photomatix Pro and Lightroom to make a HDR image.
