Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on a tram. When I was going to or back from work. The tram was not very crowded. I usually stand when I commute and think it was also easier for me to photograph this lady of Krakow.

Time

As the photograph was taken a while ago, and we can see it was winter time and there is not much light outside, I believe it was taken in the evening.

Lighting

The light was strong, coming from the indoor illumination of the tram. It is strongly visible on her face.

Equipment

I must be honest... It was taken with my iPhone, without flash (never use flash). I may have used Adobe Lightroom App to capture this scene but I do not remember now... I am sorry.

Inspiration

I love Street Photography, the people, their faces. This lady's face has a strong character, her eye, hair, hat and the coat. It was an instant moment... I have taken many of my street photographs very fast as this very moment lasts just few seconds...

Editing

I always take my photographs in colour, raw format. I have been Lightroom user since for more than 10 years now. I hardly use presets. I convert into "normal" black and white and then add or remove exposure, contrast, highlights and nowadays texture as this feature has been added recently. I also use curves.

In my camera bag

For most of my times as a passionate photographer, I have been a Canon user and I loved those cameras. My last Canon model was 6D - loved its full-frame capability. One day, I sold my Canon gear and moved into Olympus - OMD 1 Mark II that was stolen in Feb 2019 and was found in Ukraine. Never got it back. At the moment, I always carry my wonderful Olympus OMD 5 Mark II with f2.8 12-40 Pro Lens. Love it. For street type photography is amazing, small, compact, light... however, I can already tell there are some features that I miss very much... Pro Capture for example...

Feedback

First, always carry your camera with you (if possible). Keep not only your eyes open but your mind and above all your heart. Do not give up, keep trying... there is always someone or something to photograph. Try new techniques (as I do at the moment), use your creative soul, challenge yourself, set a theme or topic you want to photograph and stick to it. Stay sharp and keep photographing... Wojtek
