Location
This photo was taken in Littleton, Colorado during a photo walk with the model. We happened to come across a wonderful tattered brick background that caught both our eyes.Time
This was taken probably around mid day in November 2018. There was an awning above this area which cut the harsh sunlight and made it a perfect spot for shooting.Lighting
Being outside in the mid day light makes shooting a nightmare at times. So, I always try to find shaded areas to shoot in. Luckily enough, their was an awning above this area which cut the harsh sunlight out and I was able to add extra light in by using my Rotolight Neo 2. I rarely use the rotolight in flash mode and just used continuous LED for this shot.Equipment
This was shot on a Sony A7iii with an 85mm 1.4 G Master Lens. I also used my Rotolight Neo 2 on continuous LED for lighting.Inspiration
You see her eye? Thats what inspired this photo. But, I didnt want to just do a straight on face shot. I wanted to add some intrigue to it. So, I had her cover one eye with her hair and I feel it added so much to photo.Editing
My post-processing is pretty simple on this photo. I use lightroom for all my editing. I basically just smoothed her skin out, brought up highlights, vignetted, and then clarity and exposure on her eye.In my camera bag
Typically my gear bag consists of A7iii, 85mm 1.4 GM, 50mm 1.8, 16-35mm f/4, Neo 2, standard flash, batteries, cards, cloths, and my Rotolight Aeos in hand.Feedback
Dont be afraid to think outside of the norm. A simple straight on shot would have been gorgeous also but, covering one eye and changing her angle is what made this shot. And just wing it sometimes. A lot of people have this idea of the perfect shot they want to get and it never comes out the way you want. Just go into a shoot with no plans and see what happens.
