Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken on a sheltered part of a local lake.Time
The photo was taken early in the morning before the wind got up to cause ripples on the water. This derelict boat is a resting spot for shags and pelicans and on a still day the water becomes like a mirror often reflecting images from the boat or sky above.Lighting
On this particular morning there was a light cloud cover and a slight mist on the lake, favouring simple classic shots.Equipment
I used an Olympus OMD 5 Mk II, with a 12-100mm lens. No other equipment was neededInspiration
I live by the ocean and often take beach shots at sunrise, but I was looking for something and somewhere different and had noticed the derelict boat on a sheltered part of a lake, which I had previously noticed with varying birds resting on its edges. The conditions on this day were perfect for the type of shot I wanted and the birds were just waking up when I got there.Editing
No, this photo is straight out of cameraIn my camera bag
I carry an Olympus OM-D-EM-1 mkII. My go to lens is the Olympus M.Zuiko 12-100mm f/4.0 IS PRO Lens, but I also use a Panasonic Leica DG 100-400mm f/4-6.3 ASPH Power OIS Lens for bird photography. I have an Olympus TG5 which I use for macro and underwater (Rockpool) shots.Feedback
Ensure that the light and conditions are favourable for this type of shot.
