Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a little hidden bay on Lake Windermere.

Time

this was taken mid afternoon in May 2016 using a Sony E6653 camera.

Lighting

As it was mid afternoon the sun was out however as seen in the photo there was some cloud cover also. Given the covered spot I was stood in to take the photo with the mixture of sun and cloud providing a reflection on the water highlighted some of the ripples on what was a pretty calm surface.

Equipment

This was taken on the camera phone Sony E6653 as this was what I had to hand at the time.

Inspiration

The mixture of cloud with sun breaking through which created some highlights on the ripples of the water. For me the photo showed the calmness of the moment, some sail boats on the lake, very little disturbance on the water.

Editing

No post processing was completed on this photo

In my camera bag

I currently have a canon Eos 700D with 2 different lenses at hand, 18-55mm kit lens along with Canon EFS 55-250 mm. Always have my trusty Sony Camera phone at hand for quick shots or just even seeing what the photo may look like on screen.

Feedback

Take your time setting the shot, take a number of shots at different angles and look at the wider scene you have in front of you. Be mindful of the conditions, whether its sun, wind, cloud and what possible effect these may have on your ever changing scene. Taking lots of shots gives you the chance to capture a number of different scenes which you can review later.
