Behind The Lens

Location

Grand Teton National Park, northeast of Cunningham Cabin in Antelope Flats

Time

September morning, 8-9 AM

Lighting

The sky was bright with just a few clouds, I was losing my golden hour morning light quickly. It turned out to be a good thing that light was still coming in at a strong angle thus creating a nice shadow on his face.

Equipment

Nikon D600, hand held

Inspiration

Bison have great heads, I was intentional this morning about shooting bison.

Editing

After bringing a little exposure balance to the shot, I cropped the shot for just the head and the one eye.

In my camera bag

I try to keep it simple; my camera, a few lenses, filters and tripod for low light conditions.

Feedback

Have a game plan before you go out to shoot; what do you want to capture, what lighting can you anticipate, what is the sky doing, do I have the right equipment? Then be flexible along the way; look for great subjects and lighting.
