Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at the corner just outside of the convention center as I was leaving the Los Angeles Comic Con.

Time

I remember this day vividly. It was late afternoon and I was leaving the convention after hours of shooting photos. As got to the corner I noticed this beautiful lady dressed as "Domino" from the movie Deadpool

Lighting

The sun was low but the buildings behind her were getting direct sunlight. I under exposed the shot so they wouldn't be blown out later in post.

Equipment

I shot this using a Canon 5d mark III with a Canon 50mm at f/2.8. no other equipment was involved.

Inspiration

As you can see from the image, the cosplayer/model Phoenix Skye is gorgeous and her "Domino" cosplay was perfect! I would have preferred to shoot this with less background distractions but I think she pops regardless.

Editing

Yes! I under exposed because of the sunlight behind her. In post I brightened and sharpened her. Minor skin retouching. Her eyes are just beautiful and I lightly sharpened and increased the saturation.

In my camera bag

Canon 5d Mark III Sigma 85mm 1.4 Canon 24-105mm f4 Canon 50mm 1.4 Neewer TT 560 flash Reflectors and skrim

Feedback

Although we were both leaving and the signal was about to change to cross I still asked her if I could get a photo. I could have let the negatives (busy background, limited time, etc,) stop me from shooting this. Get your settings right and take the shot. It took less than 8 seconds to take multiple photos.
