Location
We were on a safari in the Northeast corner of South Africa bordering on Kruger National Park.Time
We were on a morning game hunt around 7:30am when we came upon a herd of elephantsLighting
The light was around 10 o'clock coming out of the east.Equipment
Camera was a Canon 5G Mark 3 with a 24-105mm f4 L lens.Inspiration
The herd was made up of females and young offspring. The dominant female, who had two offspring under her wing, was determining if we were foe or something to be ignored. Her stance with her flared ears was one of intimidation. Looking at her and realizing she could crush us like ants raised the hairs on my neck. The moment was quick as she quickly realized we were no threat and went back to grazing.Editing
Photo was shot in RAW and brought in Lightroom and tweaked. Some final touches were made in Photoshop CC.In my camera bag
On this trip I had the Canon 5D 3, a Canon 7D along with a 24-105mm f4 L, a 70-200 f2.8 L, 2x Canon extender, Canon strobe, Mannfroto monopod, Blackrapid strapsFeedback
If you have not been to Africa on safari you should put it on your bucket list. It will change you forever in ways you can't imagine until you experience the magnificance of these beautiful creatures in their own habitat.
