Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken from the Percival Landing Boardwalk in Olympia, WashingtonTime
It was about 10:30 in the morning when I took this shot. The waters of Budd Inlet were perfectly still, mirror like. The reflections I saw in the waters from the blue boat caught my eye and then caught my camera lensLighting
The overcast sky with partial lighting of the clouds formed a perfect canvas on the waters.Equipment
I shot this photo with a Nikon D7200 with a Tamron 18-400 mm lens. I hand held the camera, no tripod used. This was the only equipment used in this photographInspiration
The Inlet waters, the boats and the wonderful sky drew me to this photo. The reflections I saw being cast onto the mirror like waters sang to me in verses of calm and beauty.Editing
I did all the post processing through Topaz studio. I bumped up the contrast a bit to make the sky pop.In my camera bag
I am either carrying my Nikon D7200 with the Tamron 18-400 mm lens or I am using my Nikon D610 with a Tamron 150-400 mm telephoto lens. I have a variety of other lens also for when I want to do macro photography or portrait photography. My favorite lens, thought is the Tamron 18-400 mm. It is able to provide me with the wide shots I need or take me up close with the fully extended zoom.Feedback
I hardly go anywhere without my camera. You may see fantastic photo opportunities when you are out and about, but they will only be that if you don't have a camera to capture them. Become familiar with your camera, know how it works and why it works the way it does. Let the camera be an extension of yourself. Take lots of photos, you never know which one might be the great one.
