This is one of the first photos I had ever taken a few years back, of this fawn left in our backyard where we used to live. The mother had died and the fawn was waiting for 2 days and nights faithfully for her to return. Hunger was getting the best of it and as I was taking this shot, the poor hungry thing was approaching me calling for its mother. As it stood by my leg looking up at me I knelt down and showed it some affection by petting its head. It then followed me to our home. We fed it and found its twin hiding across the road. Our neighbor cared for that one and we took care of this one. This picture was published in our local newspaper. DNR told us to let them die. We did not. After close to a year, we had the doe, (neighbors was a buck) they started leaving the property until they never returned.
