We are lucky enough, in Montana, to have some open spaces where bBison still roam. I encountered this one at the National Bison Range, and yes I stayed in my car! It's hard to get an impression of just how big these animals are just looking at a picture. I can vouch for the fact that they are indeed quite large. But they have a gentle nature if you don't get in their way; this one stood quietly munching on some grass occasionally and let me take all the pictures I wanted.
