Behind The Lens

Location

One of the most picturesque state parks in Georgia, Watson Mill Bridge - Madison County. I LOVE shooting at this location. Its approx 45 min drive through the back country Georgia roads. It is the longest covered bridge in the state, spanning 229 feet across the South Fork River. Built in 1885 by Washington (W.W.) King, son of freed slave and famous covered-bridge builder Horace King.

Time

Hands down this shot is one of my top 5 favorite captures. It was captured just out of having a great time shooting this new model to the modeling world. Getting her comfortable and relaxed being in front of the camera. It was late summer, approx 3PM on a weekday afternoon she and I both had time to go out and play for a few hours. One of those shots you're not expecting when scrolling through the sorting process.

Lighting

Whoo lighting on this shot - summer afternoon. Take in the shade under a large oak tree. Just so happen unfortunately we was turned away from the bridge so in the editing process I thought to myself... Lets see what this would look like if we where shooting in the winter? There you have it blurred the background drop the saturation and added some blurry snow flakes.

Equipment

At the time I was shooting with the T3I, believe it was my 50 - 85mm lens. NO extra off camera flash or extra lighting. Just me & model, my camera and a monopod for stabilization.

Inspiration

Look at the model how can you not be inspired. I don't care who you are everyone has something beautiful about that. I like taking someone and bringing out the most beautiful self. The eyes! The eyes truly are the window to the soul.

Editing

As I stated above we just so happen unfortunately we was turned away from the bridge so in the editing process I thought to myself... Lets see what this would look like if we where shooting in the winter? There you have it blurred the background drop the saturation and added some blurry snow flakes. I did enhance the red to make it more bolder. Gave her cheeks a little cold wind blown. Now that red lipstick all the model. lol

In my camera bag

Everything I can fit in it! I pack at least 3 lens. I have a tendency to break them on shoots.. a lot! Extra cards, Batteries and just in case should the moment arise for need I carry my off camera flash.

Feedback

Look closer at your model. Find there uniqueness and beauty. If they are nervous talk with them, make jokes, guide them and each shot make sure you let them know how well they are doing.
