You know what is so good about this photo, not the subject matter or that every rule is broken, but it's got SNAP! Black & white is supposed to be just that-Black & White! NOT grey on grey. That's my biggest pet peeve about the B&W pix on this site. Not snap... There needs to be a white white with details and blacks with details, and this image has it! Thank you so much for showing the photography community how it's done! Love the birds, too!

Behind The Lens
Location
Behind a fish market on the Treasure coast of Florida.Time
It was early afternoon if my memory serves me well. Beautiful Florida day with plenty of sunshine.Lighting
Natural lightening can accent better than any man made lighting.Equipment
Nikon d 7100, no flash, Tamaron lens .Inspiration
The family of Pelicans, or should I say clan. The way they all seem to have a part in scoping out the big picture. When I took the photograph every eye was on me. They seem to work as one unit sometimes, probably why they are a flock!Editing
Turning to Black and white to bring out the detail, and then cropping. In my camera bag
Nikon d7100, Sony A6300, various lens for both, batteries, clothes.Feedback
When taking birds try be very passive, the less movement you make the better the chances of getting a good photograph. Always remember they see you as a threat before they let their guard down.
