A self portrait, my daughter turned 2 very recently, I took this as I wanted a beautiful reminder of this precious time.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken in my bedroom, on my bed in Bournemouth, where we both curl up together ready for nap time.

Time

Nap time, our favourite time of the day, we can curl up together, have a cuddle and forget the rest of the world for an hour or two. This is usually around 2pm although it depends how we feel on the day.

Lighting

All natural lighting coming in from the bedroom window behind us, it's a North facing room so the light isn't bright and creates a nice atmosphere for sleep.

Equipment

This was shot on a nikon D750, I used a tripod and a remote set to take pictures every 10 seconds for 2 minutes, the tripod was lashed to the window handle to stop it toppling forward. Two legs of the tripod were on the windowsill and one on the bed behind us. It was a very precarious set up but it worked thankfully!

Inspiration

My daughter was turning 2 I wanted a photo to celebrate 2 years of breastfeeding her.

Editing

Yes, i wanted this photo to portray the emotion we felt, so I converted to black and white and edited the lighting and mood until I was happy with it.

In my camera bag

My nikon D750, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm primes.

Feedback

Go with your gut, capture the emotion, even if it's not perfect it's a moment in time and special memory to treasure forever.
