Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken on a night out with our local photograpy club to make evening/night pictures. We spotted this car in the city center of Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Asked the owner who was nearby if we could make some pictures of his car. That was oke. We even exchanged e-mail adresses so I could send him a couple of my pictures. He loved the result as i did. Everybody happy.

Time

This was about nine o clock in the evening in september. We were with a couple of guys learning to take evening city pictures. Our goal was to make pictures with surrounding light (no flash)

Lighting

Sinds our goal was to make picture with surrounding light I did like it that this car was parked under a lamppost. I had the advantage of some nice light from obove the car that even looked a bit like moonlight. The apparments and offices in the background had there normal lights on which gave a very nice city background look at this time of the day.

Equipment

I used my Canon 700D with a 50mm (plastic fantactic) lens. I'm on a small budget but that does not bother me at all. The inspiration gets even bigger to make the best that I can.

Inspiration

The car from 1946 inspired me to thake this picture because it was in the middle of a modern city with modern surroundings. I wanted a low point of view with this big car to make it even look bigger. Therefore I placed the camera on de ground and took this picture.

Editing

Not much post processing other than a bit of extra saturation and composition correction. And a bit of scharpening.

In my camera bag

I normally take all my equipment with me. (is not difficult because I have nothing big) It is my Canon 700D with four lenses. 10-18mm, 18-55mm, 55-250mm and my 50mm fixed lens.

Feedback

If you want to make car pictures then look very good at the way you want to "present" the car. Look at the lines, the collors, the size and even the surrounding of the car. With this picture I had to go verry low to make it look even bigger but also getting the surrounding lights in the picture. At least take pictures at various angles. Spot some of the details of the car which can be very nice to. Somtimes you have to be a bit lucky with the light. I like to go out at times when there is not such a very hard sunlight.
