The shot was taken with a Canon 50D, no tripod or flash.Inspiration
As stated previously this photo was one of a group of shots for a conceptual project titled "Shadows of self". The purpose was to reflect on the aspects of life and death. The inspiration for the shoot came after attending a funeral a few months before and observing others emotions and conversations during the service. Throughout the day as I conversed, listened and observed I came up with the concept.Editing
My post processing was done in adobe Lightroom by adjusting the manual sliders until I was visually satisfied with the results. In my camera bag
I travel pretty light. Image was shot with my old Canon 50D along with my Canon EF 28-135mm (f3.5-5.6) lens.Feedback
When shooting black and white images I try visualize how the colors in a scene will convert to black and white. The subject should either be a significantly darker or lighter tone to the background. Keep in mind focal point in terms of highlights and contrast. In this images case I went with highlighting the models face. With people the eyes are important as well. When planning a shoot in a cemetery make sure to obtain permission first. Never move or arrange any objects or flowers, be careful where you step and mindful not to desecrate any tomb, grave, flower arrangement or personal mementos left for deiced loved on and never photograph other people without their permission and be respectful to the deceased, and family or loved ones that may be visiting.
