Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in Hobbs Woods Located about three miles south of Fond du Lac. Wisconsin. My daughter and I often take outings to state parks to hike and capture photos. We've been doing these outings since she was six years old. She is now 19 years and like her mother has a love for nature and photography!Time
It's easy to lose time when you're surrounded by the magic of the forest. The image was taken around mid-day, early afternoon.Lighting
I have to give credit to mother nature herself. As we were hiking and came up to this seen it was just perfect. The lines, the textures, the lighting.... the scene before my eyes was calling to me.Equipment
This image was taken with a Canon EOS 50D. No flash, no tripod, and to be honest I do not remember what lens I was using at the time.Inspiration
I was inspired by nature's beauty itself. The entire composition was waiting for me as I neared the scene. Autumn is always my favorite season as it holds so much texture and vibrant colors.Editing
I did very little post-processing. A bit of cropping and basic light and shadows in Adobe Lightroom. The image did not require much to bring out its brilliance. In my camera bag
I only shoot with two lenses. My canon 50mm and my Canon 75-300 mm zoom. Although I have a tripod I rarely use it. Other than that I carry spare batteries, rain cover for camera and a rain poncho (just in case) trail mix and water,Feedback
As a photographer that most often shoots in the moment I don't feel that I have much in the technical advise area, I would say to pay attention to the time of day and to use the light that is available. Lack of lighting can sometimes create a great image as well. Watch for interesting patterns, textures, composition, etc. Shoot what calls to you in the moment and just enjoy yourself and the process.
