Location
This was taken at a local forest where we regularly take our grandkids....Time
It was taken around 12pm in a shaded area just off a main pathLighting
As the area was shaded I just exposed for the logs ...I didn't have to worry about too much light blowing out any of the image...Equipment
This was a handheld shot from my Nikon D600 & Tamron 70-300mmInspiration
The grandson was playing hide and seek in a den ...as I crept up he leaned forward the look on his face made me instinctively snap the shot ...I rattled off a shot then turned to the wife and said I've got that picture for over the fireplace you wanted..... It now takes pride of place on a large panoramic 120x80cm canvas.Editing
I took this in raw with a monochrome setting โฆ. I wasn't happy with the in camera B&W so reset it back to colour, imported it into photoshop and the Nik silver efex plug in .. Having outputted I felt it needed a little faint vignette and slight centre lightening...In my camera bag
D600, 28mm F2.8, extra battery & SD Cards.... X-pro1 and 27mm lensFeedback
Have your camera with you and ready to snap it really is that simple โฆ. I normally shoot manually when on the street which I had left the settings from the previous days shootings.. luckily my default street setting is Auto ISO @F8 or F10 ...even though I had a fast shutter I was still able to grab a shot off the cuff...
