Behind The Lens

Location

The picture has been taken by the "Lac Blanc" in Chamonix, France, during a hike I was doing with my wife.

Time

when we arrive at the lake, we set our tent for the night. The day was a bit late and the sun was going to set. This spot is very famous for its sunset and view over the mountains. So, when the color of the sunset arrived, I set my tripod up and got ready for the show.

Lighting

The sunset in itself was not that terrific. I was even afraid the cloud would ruin it. But when the sun goes down and vanished, it first got darker and a split second later, it was like the sky was all burned by a magnificient purple light.

Equipment

Canon EOS 750D - EF-S 24mm

Inspiration

The landscape was just perfect and I've never seen a light like that. This moment was magic and I was so amazed, I printed it and displayed in my own living room. It feels so relaxing and majestic.

Editing

Major part of the post processing was to take the other photographer off the picture and some minor light adjustements

In my camera bag

For hiking, I feel like bringing my own house with me. I don't know what will come to my lenses. So, I have my Canon EOS 750D and EF-S 24mm as a standard. Then, I bring my EF 70-300mm in case I can take some wildlife shot. I have my tripod and a whole set of ND filters. I recently bought a ND 1000 for extra long exposure. When I'm traveling abroad, I go lighter for streetphotography and only have my Fujifilm X100T with me.
