Location
This photo was shot at home on a white, lightly reflecting, thin cardboard, folded up in the background. The 'water' consists of decorative pearls used to keep flowers fresh. It was an assignment for 'Still life' in a photography class.Time
It was shot in the evening, with artificial lighting, no daylight.Lighting
Only one artificial light source, right above the rubber duck.Equipment
Shot with a Nikon D610 Full Frame camera using a 50mm prime on a tripod. Shutter speed 1/100 at f8 aperture. Slightly cropped.Inspiration
Got the idea while taking a bath and seeing the rubber ducks the kids used to play with when they were younger :)Editing
Post processing in Adobe Lightroom, to remove some dust and brighten up the picture a little. In my camera bag
I prefer shooting at home using a tripod and a prime lens (50, 105 macro). When on the road, it depends on the 'target'. For a visit to the zoo, I use a 150-600 lens or a 70-200. For a street shoot or architecture, I have a 11mm Irix lens and a 24-70 lens.Feedback
For still life shots, lighting is very important. That's why live-view is always a good idea, it shows you how shadows are cast, and if there are any reflections that should not be there. You can hook up your camera to a (large) TV screen to have a more detailed view of the subject and the lighting conditions.
