This little chameleon was hiding in the leaves of a dogwood tree last fall. He, or she, just matched the color of the tiny twigs it crawled upon. It did show up nicely against the pretty red leaves though!

Location
In a park nearby there is a beautiful dogwood tree with leaves that turn this wonderful shade of red in the fall. The park is home to many little chameleons that love to come out on sunny days to nap in the sun. I was photographing the leaves on this tree and got a sweet little surprise when I spotted this sleepy little creature. ????Time
This shot was capture in the late afternoon before sunset.Lighting
Lighting was ambient, not golden hour but just before when the sun was still warm for this little lizard but not so bright it was harsh.Equipment
This photo was taken with my Fuji XT2 and 2.8 135 mm macro lensInspiration
Nature inspires me! Every change of season brings new color and sights especially if you are near a wooded trail which I am. Spotting this tiny creature catching a little warmth in the afternoon sun was just a sweet surprise shot.Editing
Post capture editing was minimal. Just a tiny bit of color brightening and slight sharpening. In my camera bag
I try to carry as little as possible but depending on what I am shooting I usually will have two camera bodies, one with a wide angle lens and the other with a 70-200 mm lens. On occasion I carry my macro lens as well.Feedback
If trying to capture a similar image, relax, enjoy being outside and keep your eyes open and look around your surroundings. For something like this I would probably just take one camera and lens so as not to be weighed down with gear. Take a nice hike in the woods and enjoy!
