Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken pretty much in the middle of nowhere Texas, I had some friends that wanted to show off their cars on their social media so I shot well over 400 photos and this just happened to be one of the better ones.

Time

This photo was taken somewhere in July of 2018, right around golden hour or at least close to it and the result is some really pretty edge lighting.

Lighting

I didn't mean to wait for golden hour, this shoot took 3-4 hours and by the time we were wrapping up, golden hour was almost upon us so that is where that edge lighting came into play.

Equipment

The equipment I used was nothing special, just a Sony A7rii with a 70-200 f2.8 Gmaster lense.

Inspiration

I like to run and gun so my inspiration is primarily based on images I can remember from sites like Instagram or YouTube.

Editing

My post-processing is centered around cleaning up blemishes on my subject(s), in this case I only went in to clean the rock chips in the cars paint with a healing brush and a little bit of playing with the tones to make the white of the car and top pop a little.

In my camera bag

In my bag is small arsenal of lenses including, Sony 50mm f1.8, Sony kit lens 28mm - 70mm f3.5-5.6, Helious 44-2 58mm f2.0 (for some vintage flair), Sony Gmaster 70mm-200mm f2.8. Along with this I have a Rode video microphone and a Manfrotto tripod hidden somewhere in my bag.

Feedback

Honestly shoot everything, some of my favorite photos are those that I took not knowing why, just that I wanted a picture of it.
