The UP-844 is a FEF-3 class of 4-8-4 steam locomotive built in December 1944. It was the last steam locomotive delivered to the Union Pacific Railroad Company. Commercial use ended in the late 1950's. The UP-844 was originally coal fired but it has been converted to run on fuel oil. It came through Bay City on the way to South Texas so I made a quick trip down to intercept and photograph it.

This shot took about 45 minutes to set up. It was warm out and the nest was very active.

This storm spawned two tornados after it passed me. Within 30 minutes of making this image the winds were 70 mph with torrential rain.
