The UP-844 is a FEF-3 class of 4-8-4 steam locomotive built in December 1944. It was the last steam locomotive delivered to the Union Pacific Railroad Company. Commercial use ended in the late 1950's. The UP-844 was originally coal fired but it has been converted to run on fuel oil. It came through Bay City on the way to South Texas so I made a quick trip down to intercept and photograph it. After the train left Bay City I ran ahead and intercepted it at a few different locations, including El Maton.
