Location
This photo was taken on a trip to Iguazú Falls in north Argentina. I was backpacking at the time. There are lots of these coatí in Iguazú but this one was particularly photogenic!Time
It gets hot up in Iguazú, so this was taken in the late morning as I tried to avoid the mid-day heat!Lighting
Iguazú is rainforest, so the light dapples really nicely. Add that to the morning light bouncing off the water from the falls and you have a different type of softly lit environment as long as the forest is not too deep.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon EOS1200D with an EF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5 lens. No other equipment was usedInspiration
This coatí was walking directly at me, it was almost impossible not to take the shot!Editing
Only a small amount of edits with the shadows and highlights. The lighting was spot on so not much was needed. In my camera bag
I’m pretty minimal when it comes to equipment, I have my trusty Canon 1200D base with the EFS18-55mm lens. And that’s it! As a hitchhiker and backpacker, I don’t like to have too much equipment.Feedback
Have patience and look for unique angles. For example, behind me in this shot, is the magnificent Iguazú waterfall, but everyone is taking the same shot of that. So for this picture I turned around and started trying to capture the essence of the place without the waterfall. This is one of those shots!
