Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo when I went walking around a park in North London. London is perfect for getting lost and taking photos, and when I came across this little fellow I couldn’t resist capturing the shot!

Time

I always aim to get up early and get out in the city to take photos. However, this rarely happens... I’m a sucker for a long breakfast, which turns into lunch etc... so I managed to get out to capture the afternoon light. It was taken in Autumn, so the afternoon light comes in fast!

Lighting

The afternoon light of an autumn day in London provides the kind of cool lighting that I was looking for.

Equipment

Shot using the Canon 1200D, with the 18-55mm/3.5 Lens.

Inspiration

I thought the pidgeon looked funny, sitting on the bench much like a person, watching the world go by. To me he looks grumpy, so it reminded me of a man who’s had an argument with his wife, so came to the park to get some air, smoke a cigarette and plan a response for an argument he just lost.

Editing

Yes, slight post processing using Lightroom. But not excessive, slight changes to the shadows and contrast, but not much more.

In my camera bag

I generally only have my camera (Canon1200D) and the 18-55mm/3.5 Lens - so I don’t take a bag - it’s in my hand all the time!
