African Fish Eagle on the banks of the Liuwa Plains, Zambia. This is the possibly the closest that I've managed to get to these wonderful birds of prey. They are large. Had never fully appreciated just how big these eagles are. The Liuwa Plains are simply mind mind blowing. The profusion of wild life is incredible.

The African fish eagle, or to distinguish it from the true fish eagles, the African sea eagle, is a large species of eagle found throughout sub-Saharan Africa wherever large bodies of open water with an abundant food supply occur.
