oh my goodness! I am so thankful you were safe ... This is a big leopard and look at the detail you captured not only on the cat but even the bark on the tree. Dang you are good! love it.

Location
This photo was taken in NE Botswana, Africa in the Tuli Safari AreaTime
It was around 9:00AM and we were on the verge of turning back to camp as the heat was escalating rapidly, as it does in Africa.Lighting
At this time of day the light is bright and the magic hour has long since gone. My first instinct is to take the photo to the best of my ability and then worry about what I can do in post processing.Equipment
Canon 5D Mk III with Canon EF100-400 Zoom lens with IS engaged to enable me to hand hold the camera, as I did not have a tripod available. Camera settings: ISO 320, f/5.6, 1/320 at 365mm.Inspiration
My inspiration for taking this photo, as it always is in the wild, is to be able to capture the sense of freedom enjoyed by these animals.Editing
Post processing involved: Exposure adjustment, along with curves to enhance the photo along with levels. No cropping involved. In my camera bag
I normally have two cameras with me plus a zoom lens and a prime lens in order to give me lots of flexibility.Feedback
Going on safari requires a lot of preparation. Speak to others who have been before so that you can maximise your adventure. Doing it right will mean that you will want to go on another and then another. It does become rather addictive.
