Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Barlow Studios in Chesterfield

Time

In the afternoon just after 3 o'clock.

Lighting

I had two 500w Bowen’s with softboxes either side, in the white seamless studio setting,

Equipment

Canon 7D MKII, EF 24-70 f/4L @ f/8 1/125 ISO 100 2x 500 watt Bowen’s mono-light, 1.5m octabox (key), 60 x 60 softbox (fill)

Inspiration

It was a studio day arranged by the Disabled Photographers Society, when my turn to shoot came along I saw a glimpse of this pose and asked Monika to repeat it, this was the second image I captured of this pose, I liked the attitude.

Editing

A little skin softening using a frequency separating technique that doesn’t destroy skin texture I learned from Glyn Dewis and B&W conversation, added a little more contrast.

In my camera bag

I usually drag it all, in my roller case. Primes are my favourite but the 24-70 does well in the studio. In my bag is the 50 f/1.2, 100 f/2.8 primes. 10-22, 24-70 f4, 70-200 f/4. 600 EXII-RT x 2 and an ST-E3-RT with a Seconic 308 flash-meter.

Feedback

Practice, patience and a great looking model, who and what can go wrong.
