Location
This was in my field in SD during the golden hour a few years ago. It was taken rural Hartford, SD.Time
The golden hour. The hour before sunset.Lighting
All natural sunlight!Equipment
Canon t3i with a 35mm sigma 1.4 art lens. I layed on my belly near the plant.Inspiration
This gorgeous Salsify was in full bloom and still intact along the edge of my alfalfa field. Salsify is also sometimes called Goatsbeard. It is like a giant dandelion. The lighting was perfect and so was the weed!Editing
I shoot in RAW so I did some post processing in Lightroom. I also cropped it to square for a client. I love it on metal, it is gorgeous in print. In my camera bag
I almost never take off my Sigma Art 35mm 1.4 lens. It is attached to the hip of my Canon 3Ti. Inside my think tank backpack is extra batteries and charger, SD cards, a mini tripod, and a couple of kit lenses, and a 50mm lens. I have dry socks, a towel and a rain cover for my pack. I have a flash that needs to be replaced and various other dodads that I lug around and almost never use. I do use my remote button though for selfies or long delayed photos.Feedback
Search areas near fields and streams for this awesome weed. Lay on your belly during the golden hour and shoot away! You never know which photo will be a masterpiece!
