Location
I captured this photo on the west side of the house in my small backyard flower garden in Swift Current, Saskatchewan Canada.Time
I shot this photo at 11:50AM CST (2018 May 26).Lighting
It was a beautiful sunny day near noon so the sun was high in the sky. This was shot in the shade on the west-facing side of our house.Equipment
I shot this photo hand-held with my Nikon D750 Camera and a Nikon Micro f/2.8 lens. The camera was set in Manual Exposure mode f/5.6 1/250 ISO 100 White Balance set at "Sunny". Pattern Metering mode. Handheld.Inspiration
I love poppies. This poppy was in full bloom and such a nice colour with an excess of pollen adding to its charm. The warm spring day inspired me to get out into my yard to practice close-up shooting and to better familiarize myself with my camera. It is always a work in progress.Editing
This photo was shot in JPEG. I used ACDSee Pro 6 to make minor adjustment to the exposure -- to slightly brighten and lighten the photo. In my camera bag
I have my Nikon D750, D200 and D5100 cameras in my bags along with my Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II, a Nikon Micro f/2.8 lens, a Tamron SP 24-70MM F/2.8 Di VC USD lens, a Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD lens, and a Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary lens. I also always have my Samsung S8+ SM-6955W cellular phone with me (I like to use it when I want or need a wider angle photo.)Feedback
My advice for others is to shoot as often as you can. Look for photo opportunities everywhere including in your own home and/ or yard. We have some treasures in our own yards we don't often think of photographing. I also like to go into my neighbour's yard (with permission) to photography her flowers. Try to take advantage of the lighting - when it is sunny or when it is cloudy or if rain or any other weather system is moving in, and play with your f stops. Take more than one photo... you can always delete it if it doesn't turn out. My advice is to try different camera settings and lenses as well. My most important advice of all is to pick up your camera and go out and have fun!!
