Location
This is a real South African photo:-D! These little springbuck is very common and you find it all over South Africa. They are fast, beautiful and very inquisitive. We were camping close to Worcester in the Boland and took a 4x4 route; where we found these little fellows having lunch.Time
It was around lunch-time when I took this picture. Even though they were aware of my presence, the buck didn't run away. They cannot resist the smell of taste of Lucerne, so they kept eating away.Lighting
Because it was mid-day, I didn't have to use any special lighting. I just sat there watching these beautiful little buck, enjoying the nature and natural sunlight.Equipment
This photo was shot on a Canon 70D with a normal 35 to 70mm zoom lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I enjoy taking pictures of animals in their natural habitat. I'm not a fan of posed photos, so that is why I enjoy taking photos of anything nature. These little animals were just so beautiful in the otherwise very dry surroundings. If it wasn't for the green Lucerne, they would've blended in perfectly with the browns around them.Editing
I am not very good at editing photos. To me, it is either a good or a bad photo, so no post-processing was done. I was just lucky that I got these beautiful animals just standing there on a beautiful sunny day.In my camera bag
I have my old faithful Canon EOS 70D with 35 - 70mm lens. I also have a Tamron 35 - 400mm zoom lens. I love the feel and weight of the Tamron and prefer to shoot most of my pictures with the Tamron.Feedback
Have patience and lots of it, when you want to take pictures of animals. You never know what they are going to do, so be prepared for anything. I sometimes change the settings of my camera to take multiple shots and not just single shots, because of the unpredictability of the animals. Have lots of fun experimenting with your gear. I continuously learn every time I pic up my camera.
