Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the lagoon in Langebaan, on the West Coast of South Africa.

Time

This was taken late morning on one of the few days that the wind was not blowing us away. It was high-tide, cause during low-tide Jan is lying on dry sand.

Lighting

Because it was mid-morning, I didn't have to use any special lighting. Jan was so peaceful, because there was no wind; I just felt so relaxed and in love with the world.

Equipment

I have a Canon 70D which I just love carrying in my hand.

Inspiration

The calmness of the water and the reflection of the boat on the water, was so peaceful and that is what I tried to capture with this shot.

Editing

I'm extremely bad at editing, so I deleted the program many moons ago. I either like a photo or I don't. I've got a lot to learn still about photography so that is what I will focus on for now. When I master that part, I will again try and do the whole editing move. For now, I just shoot and loving it!

In my camera bag

I have my Canon 70D with a 35 - 115 lens, which I used to love. A couple of years ago, I invested some money in a Tamron lens and now the Tamron is a permanent fixture on my Canon. I love the weight of the lens, it is easy to work with and the quality of my photos are excellent.

Feedback

Keep your eyes open for that something beautiful and have your camera ready when that something beautiful catches your eye. Have your own unique style, but also watch a lot of the work from other good photographers, cause you can learn soo much.
