Stump Pass Beach State Park is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in South West Florida. With it's sugar white quartz-based sand and clear blue water it looks more like the Carribean than Florida. Then you have the Stumps. Spaced pretty nicely along the beach are stumps. Actual dead trees of varying heights and shades of gray and silver. Some of them, according to the Park Ranger has been there for over 100 years. This stump, in particular, seems to call my name. It reminds me of the massive trees on their sides along the creeks in the Pennsylvania Mountains where I spent a significant amount of time. Anyway... Using this perspective it sure doesn't look like we're on a beautiful beach.
